Fanning Your Spark into Flame Retreat
Isla Mujeres, Mexico
October 29 - November 5, 2018
Do you feel called to live your life with authenticity and passion? Have you lost connection with your special, unique Self or feel weighed down by past baggage? Do you have a vision of yourself and what your life could be, but are unsure of the tools to make it happen? The “Fanning Your Spark into Flame Retreat” will get you there!
Beginning with the “Igniting the Spark” ceremony, each of the 4 workshop days will delve deeply into the common aspects that stop one from living fully, unconditionally and authentically.
Pre-breakfast meditation will set the daily intention in alignment with that day's Elemental focus. Each day's teaching and activities will introduce Participants to the Enhancers, the Inhibitors and the Nurturers of your Spark.
Day 4 begins with a Dawn “Harnessing the Flame” Ceremony at the Temple of Ix Chel, said to be the first place along the entire East Coast (all the way up to Newfoundland!) that the sun touches. This special ceremony invites both body and soul to anchor your inner shifts, truly stepping into a life of Passion.
Stepping off Isla for jungle adventure on Day 5, a private coach will take us to Ek Balam, the City of the Black Jaguar where we can explore and climb the ruins; followed by ziplining, rapelling, and swimming in a beautiful cenote; and a traditional Mayan meal in the exquisite Spanish Colonial style town of Vallidolid.
This Retreat takes place during magical National “Dia de los Muertos” Festival: a perfect time to identify and release that which we no longer want to hold us back and allow vibrant new energy to carry us forward. The Retreat will incorporate the Isla’s Festival celebrations in our evening activities.
Isla Mujeres has a long and colourful history. In Mayan times, the island served as the sanctuary for the goddess Ix Chel, the Mayan Goddess of fertility, reason, medicine, happiness and the moon. The Temple was located at the South point of the island. In March of the year 1517, Francisco Hernandez Cordova discovered the island. When the Spanish expedition landed, they found many female shaped idols representing the goddess Ix Chel, thus Isla Mujeres got its name. The remains of Ix Chel’s temple can still be visited today, a particularly beloved spot to watch the morning sun rise as most eastern point in Mexico where the sun first touches the land.
For the next three centuries Isla Mujeres was uninhabited. The only visitors were fisherman and pirates. Famous pirates like Henry Morgan and Jean Lafitte walked the shores of Isla and as legend goes, buried their stolen treasure under the white sands. The hacienda of the pirate Mundaca still remains on the island and, with a keen eye, one can find his tomb in the local cemetery, complete with skull and crossbones.
Located just off the coast from Cancun, Isla Mujeres maintains its own serene and beautiful energy, away from tourist bustle. A place of peace and wonder that never leaves the soul, be you goddess or pirate at heart!

OPTIONAL DAY TRIPS
In addition to the wonderful possibilities on Isla Mujeres itself, there are several awe-inspiring sites on the mainland that are well worth a day trip. For those wishing to take one of these day trips, we can help you make arrangements through the hotel. Day trip costs are not included in the Retreat cost.
Located 178 kms from Cancun, Chichen Itza is arguably the best known and perhaps the most impressive of the ancient Mayan sites. The Kukulkan Pyramid at Chichen Itza, called "Il Castillo" is now one of the new seven Wonder of the World. Chichen Itza boasts numerous magnificent ancient structures, including the Great Ball Court, the Platform of Venus, the Temple of the Warriors, the Sacred Cenote and the Observatory. A fantastic place to visit, although it is no longer permitted to climb the Pyramid. Find out more about Chichen Itza HERE
Coba and Tulum
Though not considered to be as impressive as Chichen Itza, Coba was an important discovery located in the heart of the jungle. The impact on the ruins is evident, but it is the sense of the jungle so close that also has the power to inspire awe at this site. Also boasting a pyramid and a ball court, Coba is less 'touristy' than Chichen Itza and it is still possible to climb the structures at this site, making it a preferred destination for some. Tulum is spectacularly situated on the water and served as a port to Coba. These sites, coupled for day trips, are approximately 170 kms from Cancun.
Located 84 kms from Cancun, Xcaret is a natural sanctuary that offers an experiential journey of Mexico's phenomenal history and ecology. Though most definitely a tourist attraction, Xcaret bills itself as an eco-archeological park and it is clear that much pride has been taken to present the rich tapestry of Mexican culture. It is virtually impossible to list all the things there are to do and see at Xcaret - not least, the opportunity to float along the spectacular underground rivers. Well, well worth the day!
